About Glengoyne Distillery
Founded in 1833 in Dumgoyne, near Glasgow, Glengoyne Distillery is a distinguished Highland producer of unpeated single malt Scotch whisky, renowned for its smooth, sherry-influenced whiskies with notes of honey, dried fruit, toffee and spice.
Originally named Burnfoot, it was renamed Glengoyne in 1905 and acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2003 for £7.2 million. With a 1.1 million-litre annual production capacity, Glengoyne combines traditional craftsmanship, using Golden Promise barley and extended fermentation, with sustainable practices, including a 2016 biomass boiler and a 2011 wetland wastewater system. Whilst primarily focused on single malts, it also contributes to blends like Langs. Its unique location straddling the Highland-Lowland boundary, alongside Ian Macleod’s global distribution network, positions Glengoyne as an attractive asset for investors in the growing whisky cask market, driven by its quality and eco-friendly initiatives.
