About Glenglassaugh Distillery
Founded in 1875 near Portsoy, Banffshire, Glenglassaugh Distillery is a historic Highland producer of single malt Scotch whisky, renowned for its coastal-influenced, fruity whiskies. Acquired by Brown-Forman in 2016 for £285 million alongside Benriach and Glendronach, it relaunched its core range in 2023 under master blender Rachel Barrie. With a boutique 1-1.2 million litre annual production capacity, its sherry and bourbon-matured whiskies attract a dedicated following.
Despite a temporary production pause announced in January 2025, limiting output to a few hundred casks annually, Glenglassaugh’s rare casks and bottles remain highly sought after, positioning it as a niche investment in the premium whisky cask market. Supported by Brown-Forman’s global reach and sustainability initiatives, Glenglassaugh capitalises on the 280% rise in rare whisky values from 2013–2023 [Knight Frank], offering strong potential for investors.
