About Clynelish Distillery
Founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford (later Duke of Sutherland) in Brora, Sutherland, in Scotland’s Highlands, Clynelish Distillery is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky producer owned by Diageo, a global spirits leader.
Renowned for its waxy, fruity and subtly peaty single malts, Clynelish is a key component in Diageo’s Johnnie Walker blends, particularly Gold Label Reserve, while its single malts enjoy a dedicated following among whisky enthusiasts.
Located near the North Sea, the distillery draws water from the Clynemilton Burn, contributing to its coastal character. With an annual production capacity of 4.5 million litres, Clynelish combines traditional craftsmanship with modern upgrades, including a major rebuild in 1967–1968.
