About Annandale Distillery
Founded in 1836 by George Donald in Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, Annandale Distillery is a historic Lowland single malt Scotch whisky producer, revitalised in 2014 by Prof. David Thomson and Teresa Church after a £10.5 million restoration.
Resuming production after a century-long hiatus, Annandale’s artisan craftsmanship, independent ownership and single-cask whiskies position it as a compelling choice for investors in the niche whisky cask market. Its heritage, limited production and rising recognition offer strong potential for value appreciation, appealing to those seeking portfolio diversification in a high-growth asset class.
Located on a compact site in Scotland’s Lowlands, Annandale produces approximately 250,000 litres annually, prioritising quality over volume to craft exceptional single malts. Annandale produces two distinct expressions: Man O’Words, an unpeated whisky with fruity notes inspired by poet Robert Burns and Man O’Sword, a peated, smoky whisky honouring Robert the Bruce. Its single-cask bottling approach ensures transparency and unique flavour profiles, enhancing exclusivity and investment value. Using bourbon and sherry casks from reputable suppliers and water from local boreholes, Annandale blends traditional methods with modern expertise, guided by the late Dr. Jim Swan, to deliver consistent quality.
